Frequently Asked Questions
Cradle cap is a common, harmless skin condition that causes flaky, crusty, or greasy patches on a baby's scalp, and sometimes on the eyebrows, ears, and forehead. It's a form of infant seborrheic dermatitis, linked to an overgrowth of a naturally occurring yeast called Malassezia. It usually appears in the first few months and isn't itchy or painful for most babies.
It comes down to carbon chain length. Malassezia feeds on fatty acids in the C11–C24 range, and most oils – including coconut and sweet almond – sit right in it. Sayaka uses oils that fall outside that range: C8 MCT (too short) and Squalane (too long). Both soothe the scalp without giving the yeast a food source.
Yes. While the scalp, eyebrows, ears, and forehead are the most common spots for cradle cap and infant seb derm, Sayaka can be used anywhere on the body where flaky patches appear.
Just three ingredients: Organic C8 MCT, Squalane, and Vitamin E. No fragrance, no essential oils, no fatty oils, no parabens.
Apply a few drops to affected areas and gently massage in. Leave on and allow the serum to absorb into the skin. Always patch test before first use.
It's unlikely and hasn’t been reported. Sayaka is fragrance-free and free from essential oils – the two most common causes of irritation in baby skincare – and it's made with just three gentle, plant-derived ingredients. That said, every baby's skin is different, so we always recommend a quick patch test first, and pausing use if any irritation appears.
Sayaka goes to work straight away, helping to soften and loosen flaky patches from the very first use. Many parents see a visible difference within a few days of regular use, though every baby is different, so consistency is key.
